Thecuy.com – Marco Bezzecchi emerged as the fastest rider during qualifying at the Qatar Grand Prix on the Lusail Circuit, securing pole position with a new all‑time lap record. The Aprilia Racing rider edged out Marc Marquez by 0.266 seconds, while Fabio Di Giannantonio set the third fastest time.

This result puts Bezzecchi on the front row for the main event and underscores the fierce competition on the Lusail track. His time also eclipsed the previous record set during practice, marking one of the standout performances of the weekend’s final qualifying session.

Bezzecchi accelerates in the decisive session

The second qualifying session turned intense from the start. Marc Marquez briefly led the timing charts, but Bezzecchi later improved his position with a rapid lap from tenth place. He posted 1:50.065 before trimming another fraction of a second to 1:50.028 toward the end of the session.

That pace guaranteed Bezzecchi the top spot and the right to start from pole. Marquez had to settle for second place, with Di Giannantonio completing an all‑Italian front row.

Battle for a spot in the decisive session

In the first qualifying round, the fight to advance to Q2 was equally tight. Fermin Aldeguer and Pedro Acosta secured the two berths after consistent performances throughout the session.

Iker Lecuona, substituting for Alex Marquez, put up a challenge but ultimately finished fifth in that session and claimed the 15th grid slot overall.

Front‑row grid and other notable outcomes

Behind the top three, Raul Fernandez occupied fourth place, followed by Francesco Bagnaia in fifth. Jorge Martin faced an unfavourable finish after being hampered on his final lap and dropped to 11th on the grid.

According to MotoGP reports, several Yamaha and its satellite teams opted not to take part in the Qatar Grand Prix after deciding to withdraw from the championship. Meanwhile, a sprint race is slated for Saturday night to award crucial world‑championship points.

These qualifying results make Bezzecchi the standout contender ahead of this weekend’s race at Lusail. The pole position and the new lap record give Aprilia Racing a strong springboard to battle up front from the start of the event.
