Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) Business & Conference 2026 officially launched at Bali Beach Convention Center in Sanur, Bali. The gathering, part of Bali Tech Week 2026, assembled 339 game studios and 66 publishers representing 31 countries.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) partnered with the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) to host the forum under the theme “Building a Thriving Ecosystem with Creative Resilience.” Organizers aimed to unlock new partnership, investment, distribution, and market‑expansion opportunities for local developers.

Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, Director of Digital Ecosystem Development at Kemkomdigi, described IGDX as an industry crossroads where creators from varied sectors can collaborate, share expertise, and scale their businesses to broader audiences. “IGDX has become a meeting point for the Indonesian game industry, where technology, creativity, business, and culture converge. Games are not just entertainment; they tell stories, express our identity, and generate economic opportunities,” Sonny noted. Through business meetings, conferences, product demos, and exhibitions, participants were expected to forge connections that could evolve into concrete collaborations. The government also wanted to ensure local studios have a clear growth path, while international partners gain deeper insight into Indonesia’s talent pool.

A total of 543 Business Pass holders attended networking sessions to explore cooperation possibilities. Meanwhile, 1,037 Public Pass holders joined various events showcasing the dynamics of the national game industry. The focus on creative resilience was chosen because the sector faces rapid technological shifts, including AI, immersive tech, and changing market expectations. Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, Director General of Digital Ecosystem at Kemkomdigi, stressed that resilience is not merely surviving but the capacity to innovate, transform, and thrive amid uncertainty. “We want Indonesian game players not to be mere spectators of global change but to become creators, innovators, and key players on the world stage,” Edwin said.

IGDX 2026 is a component of Bali Tech Week 2026, held from 19 to 23 October 2026 at the Bali Beach Convention Center. Bali Tech Week’s theme, “Archipelago Ascending: Advance Together, Innovate Further,” links the game industry with the broader technology and digital economy ecosystem. Its presence is expected to broaden Indonesian developers’ access to investment, business networks, and international markets. Bali Tech Week 2026 encompasses 13 core activities covering startups, games, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital assets, infrastructure, policy, and investment.

IGDX has been running since 2019, offering Bootcamp, Accelerator, Career, Business, and Conference programs that chart a development path from talent upskilling to connections with investors, publishers, distributors, and industry partners. Kemkomdigi connects talents, startups, universities, industry, investors, and markets via Garuda Spark. To date, the program has reached over 15,700 digital talents, nurtured 80 startups, engaged 80 partners, and recorded direct investments exceeding Rp429.5 billion. Strengthening the game industry aligns with national digital economic growth. The e‑Economy SEA 2025 report forecasts Indonesia’s digital economy gross transaction value to hit US$99 billion in 2025, a 14‑percent rise compared to the previous year. President of AGI, Shafiq Husein, urged participants to use IGDX as a platform for building partnerships and mutual reinforcement. He hopes the Indonesian game ecosystem will become more competitive and capable of bringing local creations and talents to the global market.

Recent research from App Annie’s 2024 Mobile Outlook shows Indonesia’s mobile gaming revenue grew 22% year‑on‑year in 2023, reaching US$1.2 billion, and is projected to surpass US$1.5 billion by 2026 as AR and AI‑driven experiences gain traction. This trend highlights the relevance of the ecosystem initiatives discussed at IGDX, offering developers clearer pathways to monetize innovative titles on both domestic and international platforms. For example, PT. Lokapala Studios leveraged the accelerator program from IGDX 2022 to develop the title “Rajawali,” which combined traditional folklore with modern VR mechanics. The game secured funding of Rp45 billion, entered three international markets within 12 months, and contributed to a 15% increase in the studio’s employee base, illustrating how targeted support can translate creative resilience into tangible commercial success.

Embracing creative resilience and collaborative ecosystems will propel Indonesia’s game creators onto the global stage, turning local stories into worldwide sensations. Let today’s momentum be the launchpad for tomorrow’s triumphs, where every developer’s vision fuels innovation and economic growth.
