TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Mining activities for non‑metallic minerals and rocks (type C) in Tasikmalaya City are once again drawing the attention of the DPRD. Commission I of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD has even sent a recommendation letter to the Mayor of Tasikmalaya following a surprise inspection (sidak) and evaluation of several mining sites some time ago.
In the evaluation results, Commission I discovered that many mineral extraction (type C) activities are still operating without proper permits. Moreover, processing, refining, and milling operations of the extracted materials are also under scrutiny as they reportedly lack the necessary licensing.
The Chair of Commission I of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD, Dodo Rosada, said that his party has conveyed all the inspection results along with several recommendations to the Mayor of Tasikmalaya through an official letter.

“Following the inspection and evaluation, we have conveyed the results to the Mayor of Tasikmalaya via a recommendation letter. There are several critical notes that the local government must pay attention to,” Dodo said.
He mentioned that one of the issues discovered is the continued presence of non‑metallic mineral and rock mining activities (type C) that lack permits.
“Our findings indicate that numerous type C mining operations are still unlicensed or illegal. This certainly warrants collective attention, as mining activities cannot be conducted arbitrarily without observing applicable regulations,” he stated.
According to Dodo, the issue extends beyond the legality of business operations. Moreover, mining activities can also cause environmental and social impacts if they are not optimally monitored.
“We must not allow mining activities to only extract economic benefits while the resulting impacts are borne by the community,” he said.
He explained that one risk that must be anticipated is erosion leading to landslides, particularly at excavation sites located near riverbanks or areas with steep slopes.
“If excavation activities do not consider environmental conditions, there is certainly a risk of erosion and landslides. Especially if the location is near a river or an area with a fairly high soil gradient,” he explained.
