The previously announced King’s Proposal anime unveiled its lead actors, a teaser image, and announced a launch in 2027 on Sunday. Rie Takahashi will portray Saika Kuozaki.

Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint has been releasing the light novel series since September 2021. The series now comprises eight published volumes, with the ninth scheduled for a December 2026 release. A web manga adaptation by Nemo Kurio has been featured on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website since February 2023 and currently has six volumes available.
Yen Press is publishing the light novel in English, describing the first volume as follows:
Saika Kuozaki has striking looks and is the most powerful mage ever, the only one who can counter the world‑ending annihilation events that occur once every three hundred hours. When she is mortally wounded, she passes on both her powers and her body to the regular high‑schooler Mushiki Kuga, who finds her. Inheriting her abilities doesn’t automatically give Mushiki control over them. To have any chance of saving the world, he must attend a mage academy as Saika while keeping his true identity hidden!
