TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The demand for blood in hospitals cannot await ceremonial events. When supplies dwindle, blood donation initiatives become tangible assistance for patients in need.

Such enthusiasm was displayed by hundreds of soldiers from Yonif TP 939/Macan Putih during a blood donation drive organized with RSUD dr. Soekardjo on Thursday (22/10/2026).

The event, held at the Oproom Room of the UPTD Khusus RSUD dr. Soekardjo, formed part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Tasikmalaya City.

Market stall fees in Tasikmalaya City are set to increase by 25%, prompting merchants to request cancellation of arrears – Ironically, residents behind Tasikmalaya City Hall face difficulties accessing clean water.

Far from merely celebrating the anniversary, this humanitarian effort also addresses a crucial healthcare need: ensuring an adequate blood supply.

From early morning, the soldiers displayed eagerness as they went through the donation process. They lined up orderly for blood pressure and hemoglobin (Hb) checks prior to giving blood.

The Commander of Yonif TP 939/Macan Putih, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Deddy Setya Wijaya, was present to oversee the activity. He described the partnership with RSUD dr. Soekardjo as a concrete example of collaboration between the TNI and healthcare institutions.

In his view, social concern should be integral to the TNI’s presence among the community.

Especially, the city’s anniversary can be interpreted not only through festivities but also through actions whose benefits are directly felt by the residents.

“Even though it is simple, the impact is extraordinary. This is a concrete manifestation of our concern for the people of Tasikmalaya City. We aim for the TNI to consistently be among the community, extending beyond security duties to humanitarian activities,” Deddy said.

He hopes that the blood donated by the soldiers can aid in meeting the needs of patients in Tasikmalaya and the surrounding areas.

Tasikmalaya City promotes digital literacy and innovation among santris – Not merely for virality, Tasikmalaya’s youth must become agents of change.

Because, for patients requiring transfusions, blood availability is not merely an administrative matter of the hospital, but a necessity that can determine survival.

The Director of RSUD dr. Soekardjo, Dr. H. Budi Tirmadi, expressed gratitude for the involvement of Yonif TP 939/Macan Putih.

He believes that donor support is highly valuable for the primary referral hospital in East Priangan, which has a substantial and fluctuating demand for blood.

“Our blood requirement is high. Occasionally, stock is low. The support from Yonif 939 is extremely helpful. We are very appreciative and hope this collaboration continues on a long‑term basis, becoming a regular agenda, not only during the city’s anniversary,” Budi said.
