Thecuy.com – Two squads from the Papua Football Academy (PFA), the U‑13 and U‑15 teams, have secured a spot in the 2026 Soeratin Cup quarter‑finals. This came after they won all five matches during the National Zone 8 Papua round held from 3 to 7 October 2026.

The PFA U‑15 team won all three of its matches, netting a total of 26 goals and only allowing four in return. At the same time, the PFA U‑13 side also performed admirably, winning both of its games, scoring eight goals and conceding just two. The U‑15 squad played its fixtures at Barnabas Youwe Stadium in Jayapura Regency, whereas the U‑13 team took the field at Mandala Stadium in Jayapura City.

PFA U‑15 opened the tournament with a 9‑0 triumph against Serui FA, followed by an 8‑1 victory over Mutiara Timur PB FC Papua Barat and completed the group stage with a 9‑3 win against Persimer. PFA U‑13 began its campaign with a 3‑1 success over SSB Batik and then secured a 5‑1 victory against SSB Putra Teluk Bintuni.

This year’s edition of the Soeratin Cup features an altered competition structure compared to the previous season. Previously the tournament comprised only two stages – a regional round and a national round – but it has now been expanded to three phases: a provincial round, a national zone round, and a national quarter‑final round.

The club that tops each zone will progress to the quarter‑final stage, which will be staged at the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) from 15 to 23 October. PFA’s Technical Director, Wolfgang Pikal, commented that the revamped competition layout is more budget‑friendly for the clubs involved.

Meanwhile, Papua Football Academy’s head coach, Ardiles Rumbiak, voiced appreciation for the successes of both sides. He highlighted the importance of ongoing assessment to keep the youngsters improving in their play and to provide them with opportunities to be spotted by national selectors.

The academy’s progress to date owes much to the comprehensive backing of PT Freeport Indonesia, which makes it possible for the youngsters to receive top‑tier football training and to stay in school as a primary focus.

For PFA, entering the Soeratin Cup is more than just chasing victories; it serves as a crucial element of the players’ development program, honing technical abilities, tactical awareness, competitive mindset, and squad cohesion. The campaigns of the U‑13 and U‑15 sides are far from finished, and the outcomes recorded in Jayapura provide the athletes with a solid foundation ahead of the increasingly fierce contest.
