Thecuy.com, Jakarta Selatan – Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Deputy Minister, Dradjad Hari Wibowo, reacted to the World Bank’s revised projection of Indonesia’s economic growth reaching 5.2 percent in 2026. He stressed that this forecast should not be considered a benchmark for achieving the 6 percent growth target in the same year.

“The World Bank may give such a forecast, but time will tell. We’ll see who’s right later. (Calculations) are already there, we already have our path,” Dradjad said during a break at the Investor Daily Summit 2026.

Dradjad added that steps need to be prepared to maintain growth in the fourth quarter of 2026. “This is what we are preparing: steps to sustain growth in Q4 2026. We’ll see later, as they say in English, time will tell,” he said.

He also stressed that efforts to boost growth should not rely solely on stimulus. According to him, stimulus is one measure to assist people when facing economic pressure. “What we are promoting is for people to rise on their own feet. So people become masters in their own homes,” he added.

The World Bank projected Indonesia’s economic growth at 5.2 percent for 2026, positioning the country above the East Asia and Pacific region’s average forecast of 4.5 percent. This projection marks an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous estimate of 4.7 percent in the April 2026 report.

Meanwhile, the EAP region’s economic growth for 2026 is projected at 4.5 percent, up by 0.3 percentage points from the previous forecast of 4.2 percent.
