TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com—The fugitive from a violent case that left a victim dead in Tasikmalaya was finally captured in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). The 23‑year‑old man, identified as VAT, was arrested by police on Thursday (8/10/2026)

The arrest of VAT is linked to a violent incident that occurred in Kelurahan Nagarawangi, Cihideung District, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, where the victim sustained severe injuries resulting in death.

The capture of the fugitive was the result of cooperation between the Sat Reskrim team of Tasikmalaya City Police, Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) Police, and the Criminal Investigation Directorate of NTT Police, after receiving information about VAT’s whereabouts in the area.

The illegal polling station on Jalan Lukmanul Hakim in Tasikmalaya city, which is severely problematic and repeatedly appears, has been fenced by the Election Supervisory Board, causing concern among council members!

The collaboration yielded results, leading to VAT’s apprehension by officers in Oepuah, Kota Soe District, TTS Regency. The Sat Reskrim team from Tasikmalaya City Police was immediately dispatched.

Kasat Reskrim of Tasikmalaya City Police, AKP januar Rangga Fardhela, said that VAT has been secured for legal processing and investigators are still conducting further examinations on the suspect at the NTT Provincial Police headquarters. “He is currently being examined by the Reskrim team from Tasikmalaya City Police at the NTT Provincial Police headquarters,” he said on Friday morning (9/10/2026).

In this case, which occurred at the end of August 2026, VAT is suspected of committing assault by kicking a motorcyclist on Jalan Pasar Wetan. The victim fell and suffered a severe impact, resulting in critical injuries.

After receiving medical treatment at the hospital, his condition did not improve. Two days after the incident, the victim passed away.

After completing a series of examinations at the NTT Provincial Police headquarters, VAT was then taken by the investigation team from Tasikmalaya City Police, led by Ipda Iyan Budi, to the Tasikmalaya City Police headquarters for further investigative purposes.

Quoted from a press release by the NTT Provincial Police Public Relations, the Director of Criminal Investigation of the NTT Provincial Police, Kombes Pol Ricardo Condrat Yusuf, SH, SIK, MH, stated that the success was thanks to solid cooperation between the district police and the provincial police. This also reflects the police’s commitment to law enforcement in society.

“Coordination and collaboration across units and regions are the keys to task implementation. This is a form of the National Police’s commitment to providing support in every law enforcement process,” he said. (Rangga Jatnika)
