Thecuy.com – The Constitutional Court (MK) has rejected a legal challenge questioning whether Gibran Rakabuming Raka met the educational requirements to run as a vice‑presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. The ruling on the 2024 presidential election dispute case was delivered during a session at the MK Building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 6 October 2026.

The decision was read out by Chief Justice Suhartoyo, who was joined by Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra, Constitutional Judge Enny Nurbaningsih, and six other justices. The case that scrutinized Gibran’s eligibility was originally brought by constitutional law scholar Denny Indrayana and his team.

The petitioner argued that the authenticity of Gibran’s academic credentials—when he was listed as a vice‑presidential candidate in the 2024 elections—was questionable. The Court concluded that the proceedings revealed no proof that Gibran possesses a diploma comparable to a senior high school qualification.

The mood during the announcement of the PHPU ruling, which evaluated Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s suitability as a vice‑presidential candidate at the Constitutional Court on the evening of 6 October 2026, also highlighted the ongoing debate about education standards in contemporary politics.
