PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com — Warga yang pernah terdampak tsunami di Pangandaran kembali menghadapi musibah.

Tujuh dwelling units in Legokjawa Village, Cimerak District, were consumed by flames on Monday (5/10/2026) early morning around 05.30 WIB.

The blaze spread rapidly, razing the structures to the point where little remained.

Some household items and vital belongings were rescued before the flames grew larger.

Ironically, the seven houses that went up in flames were government-assisted dwellings for those affected by the 2006 Pangandaran tsunami.

The fire also threatened to spread to another house. Fortunately, it was contained before it could engulf the surrounding structures.

Legokjawa resident Kiki (29) stated that the house that was saved still suffered roof damage due to the flames.

“Thank God it was extinguished in time, before it could spread,” he said when contacted.

No lives were lost in the incident. However, a woman fainted due to the event and was later taken to the community health center for medical attention.

“Thank God there were no fatalities. Only one mother fainted and has now been taken to the community health center,” added Ahrudin, another resident.

Pangandaran Regent, Citra Pitriyami, directly visited several families whose homes were affected by the fire.

Local government ensured that basic needs of residents would remain fulfilled during the post-fire recovery period.

“We have met the daily needs of all fire victims, including food and other necessities,” he said.

Special attention was also given to vulnerable groups, especially toddlers, who were impacted due to losing their homes.

“Especially toddlers, we also coordinate with the village government,” she said.

Citra stated that the Pangandaran Regency Government will strive to rebuild the homes of residents that were completely destroyed by fire.

However, the amount of aid for each house has not been determined as it is still under discussion.

“One house will receive assistance for reconstruction, but the value cannot yet be determined,” he said.

While awaiting the construction process, the government, together with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), prepared tents as temporary evacuation sites for affected residents.

The regency government also set up a public kitchen to meet the food needs of the victims during the recovery period.
