Netease does not appear ready to stop experimenting with online gaming genres. After launching Where Winds Meet on the global market, there are now rumors that the development team behind it is preparing a new MMORPG under the codename ECC: Redline.
This rumor originated after the trademark ECC: Redline was found registered at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Not Yet Announced, But Indications Are Starting to Appear
However, there is no official confirmation yet from NetEase regarding the project. Trademark registration does not always mean a game will definitely be released, so information about ECC: Redline still needs to be considered as an early suspicion.
However, other signs are beginning to emerge through job postings opened by NetEase Games. Several positions such as story developer and world designer indicate a need for elements like quests, events, and narrative systems that are typically important parts of an MMORPG. Insider Gaming
If it is indeed in development, ECC: Redline could be a new step for NetEase to strengthen its position in the MMORPG market. The Chinese company already has experience in developing various large-scale online games.
It is currently unknown whether ECC: Redline will have a direct connection to the world of Where Winds Meet or be an entirely new project. Further information is still awaiting an official announcement from the developers.
