Thecuy.com – The Indonesian military has launched a strike using a Super Tucano aircraft on the Free Papua Organization (OPM) headquarters in Nduga district, Highland Papua. The operation reflects a serious effort by the armed forces to suppress separatist elements and maintain law and order in the region.
Footage in circulation shows TNI Super Tucano aircraft targeting the stronghold of the TPNPB-OPM faction commanded by Egianus Kogoya near Agisiga District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua. The assault reportedly left four OPM combatants wounded, while TNI troops recovered several items of evidence at the engagement site.
TNI spokesperson Major General Muhammad Nas underscored that the military would harness every resource needed for the public good. “Our work is wholly for the community,” he remarked during a press encounter in South Jakarta on 27 September 2026, highlighting the armed forces’ resolve to preserve security and steadiness across Papua.
Chief of the Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto stressed that the OPM, identified as a secessionist outfit, should face decisive action. “The OPM is a separatist group, and it has to be crushed. Our country cannot tolerate separatists,” he asserted. Subiyanto also briefed on ongoing military operations in Papua, noting the retrieval of eight weapons, among them an SS1-V1 rifle formerly taken from TNI forces by the OPM.
This military operation forms part of a broader governmental and military strategy aimed at upholding national authority and ensuring safety in Papua, an area repeatedly unsettled by separatist militant activities. By intensifying operations on the ground, authorities anticipate a rapid improvement in the security climate, allowing residents to go about their daily lives without fear and with peace of mind.
