More than seven years after its initial release in April 2019, Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters in a new version titled Avengers: Endgame Encore.
The film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo will be released worldwide again on September 25, 2026, while some Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans will be able to watch it earlier starting September 23, 2026.
This return of Avengers: Endgame is not just about nostalgia. Marvel has added several new footage segments related to the development of the MCU storyline leading to Avengers: Doomsday.
Interestingly, the Encore version does not alter the main film. There are no changes to scenes, editing, or cast in the main story of Avengers: Endgame. The additions only appear through several new footage segments at the end.
There are at least four additional scenes that provide clues about the future direction of the MCU storyline.
Additional Scenes and Post-Credit Scenes of Avengers: Endgame Encore
1. Loki Appears Before Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter
The first addition occurs during the closing moment of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.
In the original version of Avengers: Endgame, Steve, having returned the Infinity Stones to the past, chooses to live his life with Peggy. The scene ends with both of them dancing.
However, Endgame Encore provides an addition after that moment. Loki suddenly appears in front of the door after Steve and Peggy finish dancing.
Loki’s appearance seems to be related to his role as the guardian of the multiverse after the events in the Loki series. This scene also offers new possibilities regarding Steve Rogers’ connection to the multiverse conflict that will unfold in Avengers: Doomsday.
This also raises questions about how Captain America could return in prime condition if he were truly to be involved in the next MCU conflict.
2. Bruce Banner Is Abducted by a Mysterious Figure
The first post-credit scene of Avengers: Endgame Encore shifts to Bruce Banner.
Bruce is seen recording himself from a confined room. In the recording, he explains that he is deep underground and conducting research on the effects of gamma radiation on the Hulk.
The situation then changes when the computer experiences a glitch and the power in the room is disrupted.
From outside the camera, a mysterious figure appears, speaking to Bruce with a particular accent. The figure asks Bruce to come with him before a fight breaks out.
The sound of Hulk’s roar is then heard.
The camera falls to the floor, showing only a green streak. This visual is said to resemble the throne floor of Doctor Doom that was previously seen in the August 2026 Special Look.
This scene also raises speculation about its connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, particularly the Hulk conflict that is said to be influenced by Jean Grey.
TVA Begins Facing Thousands of Incursions
The second post-credit scene brings viewers back to the TVA.
Mobius is seen entering a large hall filled with computers and screens. One part of the room even displays a photo of Loki as the best TVA employee of all time.
Among the various screens, a representation of the universe’s flow forming Yggdrasil is visible. This refers to a location at the end of time where Loki is and guards the entire multiverse flow.
However, the situation quickly changes.
One screen shows two identical Earths that are very close and then collide. Mobius initially thinks this is a system error and intends to perform a restart.
The problem is, similar events keep happening.
One by one, TVA employees report Earths experiencing collisions, reaching around 3,000 cases in just a few seconds.
One displayed case is Earth E10005, which will undergo an incursion with Earth E1127.
E10005 itself is the Earth known as the setting for the X-Men stories.
As various Earths begin to collide, the representation of Yggdrasil on the screen slowly appears to look like a rope that is beginning to unravel.
At that moment, Ouroboros, also known as O.B., delivers a brief warning that the multiverse is collapsing.
This scene directly links Avengers: Endgame Encore with the multiverse conflict that is likely to be one of the main elements of Avengers: Doomsday.
Doctor Doom Forges a Mask
The final additional scene appears towards the end of the duration of Avengers: Endgame Encore.
This time, the audience is shown Doctor Doom forging his metal mask until it forms the character’s distinctive face.
The scene also serves as a visual and audio tribute to Tony Stark in Iron Man (2008).
In that film, Tony is shown forging the Mark I after being captured in Afghanistan. A similar visual is later used in the credits of Avengers: Endgame as a tribute to the Iron Man character’s journey.
Now, this iconic moment is reused to introduce Doctor Doom.
With these additions, Avengers: Endgame Encore does not alter the main story of the 2019 film.
However, the new footage placed at the end provides several clues about the state of the multiverse, the return of old characters, and the threats that the MCU heroes will face in Avengers: Doomsday.
For MCU fans, Encore is an opportunity to revisit the Avengers’ journey and see how Marvel begins to bridge the story of Endgame with the next phase of the Multiverse Saga.
