TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The National Zakat Management Board (BAZNAS) of Tasikmalaya Regency continues to maximize various zakat potentials. One area currently drawing attention is the zakat contributed by the management and staff of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), also known as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchen.
The Chairman of BAZNAS Tasikmalaya Regency, Ir. H. Eddy Abdul Somadi, stated that the initiative to pay zakat from the SPPG management began to emerge a few months ago.
He explained that the step originated from the SPPG management’s own awareness and marks a positive development in local zakat management.

“The initiative comes from the SPPG management themselves. This is a very positive development. Usually, most people want to donate to or receive from BAZNAS, but here they are taking the initiative to pay zakat through BAZNAS,” said Eddy.
He said that until now, there are already around eight SPPG or MBG kitchens that regularly channel their zakat through BAZNAS of Tasikmalaya Regency.
From these eight SPPGs, the collected zakat funds have reached approximately Rp200 million. BAZNAS believes that this figure still has the potential to increase as more MBG kitchens begin operating in Tasikmalaya Regency.
Eddy stated that strengthening the zakat potential from the SPPG sector also received support through the initiation of the MBG Task Force and community groups. This step was further reinforced by the issuance of Tasikmalaya Regent Circular Letter Number 52 of 2026 concerning the Recommendation of Zakat, Infaq, and Alms from SPPG Management and Staff.
“We will follow up on that initiative. This is part of our effort to optimize the existing zakat potential in Tasikmalaya Regency,” he said.
According to Eddy, the zakat potential from the SPPG sector is quite large when considering the number of MBG kitchens currently in operation.
In Tasikmalaya Regency, there are more than 380 MBG kitchens. If each SPPG can collect an average of Rp1 million in zakat per month, the total potential zakat collected would reach approximately Rp380 million per month.

If calculated over one year, that amount could potentially reach around Rp4.56 billion.
“If, for example, one SPPG’s zakat is Rp1 million, multiplied by 380 kitchens, it could reach Rp380 million in one month. For a year, it would be around Rp4.5 billion,” he explained.
