The mystery over who will succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond is intensifying. Veteran actor Gary Oldman has indicated that the next 007 actor may already have been chosen by the studio, although no official announcement has been made yet.
In a recent interview, Oldman discussed his Slow Horses co‑star Jack Lowden’s chances of taking over the iconic role. He mentioned that Lowden is on the shortlist and hopes the Scottish actor gets the opportunity to become the next James Bond.
Jack Lowden emerges as a top name in the hunt for 007

Since Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond in No Time to Die in 2021, the search for a new lead actor for the franchise has become one of the biggest topics in the film industry. Names such as Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor‑Johnson and Harris Dickinson have also been linked to the role.
Gary Oldman’s comments have fueled speculation surrounding Jack Lowden. However, Amazon MGM Studios has not yet confirmed who the new Bond actor will be.
The next James Bond film will mark the start of a new era for the franchise as creative control shifts to Amazon MGM Studios. The project also involves director Denis Villeneuve and writer Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders.
If Jack Lowden is indeed chosen, he would be one of the youngest actors to play modern James Bond. His experience as MI5 agent River Cartwright in Slow Horses also makes many fans think he has the right background to bring a fresh perspective to the 007 character.
Even though the final decision is still pending an official announcement, Gary Oldman’s statement suggests that the long wait for a new face of James Bond is nearing its end.
