GARUT, Thecuy.com – The Garut Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) continues to accelerate the implementation of rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-recon) and maintenance of road sections in Garut Regency.
As of early September, the physical work progress has approached 40 percent.
The Head of the Garut Regency PUPR Department, Agus Ismail, said that several points of district road work have now completed the repair phase.
“Rehab-recon work is ongoing. The sections that have been finished include Cipangban and Cimahi–Caringin,” he said on Thursday, 3 September 2026.

He explained, other sections are still in intensive work such as the Wanaraja–Talagabodas section, the Simpang area which uses concreting, and the Pamalayan–Cikarang section.
Agus added that, besides district road work, routine maintenance and village road repair programs are also ongoing.
Several village road points have even been completed and repaired.
“Overall, the achievement of district road progress is already around 40 percent. We target all work to be completed according to the 120‑day contract period, namely around September to October,” he said.
Regarding financing, Agus explained that road infrastructure improvements in Garut Regency are sourced from several budget items.
For routine maintenance of district roads, the Garut Regency PUPR Department allocates a budget of around Rp11 billion from the pure APBD of Garut Regency.
“Meanwhile, for the rehab‑recon program for district and village roads, the total budget from our APBD reaches approximately Rp40 billion,” Agus clarified.
This value does not yet include financial assistance from the West Java Provincial Government or the budget from the Ministry of Public Works.

The West Java Provincial Government is currently handling development in three strategic sections in Garut, namely the Samarang–Sukabening section, the Garut–Cilandak section and the Terusan Pahlawan section.
“From the Ministry of Public Works there is also an allocation for the replacement of the Banjarwangi Bridge, which is currently in progress,” he concluded. (Agi Sugiana)
