TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – A spirit of togetherness brightened the Independence Day celebration in Sukarapih Village, Sukarame Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency, on Sunday (23/8/2026). Residents together with the Democratic Party’s Tasikmalaya Regency Branch (DPC) enthusiastically took part in a series of folk competitions held with great enthusiasm.
Various traditional games marking Independence Day were organized to entertain the public. These included a healthy walk, sack racing, soccer played in nightgowns, a rice‑cracker eating contest, tug‑of‑war, and other folk pastimes.
Besides providing entertainment, the event served as an opportunity for residents to connect and strengthen social ties. A friendly atmosphere was evident in the residents’ enthusiasm as they competed and offered encouragement to the participants.
Nine athletes from Pasundan Muaythai Academy Tasikmalaya took home nine medals from the National Championship in Bekasi City. The Democratic Party of Tasikmalaya Regency launched the Blue Sky Movement by cleaning roads and planting dozens of trees.
The Chairman of the Tasikmalaya Regency Democratic Party Branch, Ferry Willyam, said that the activities in Sukarame were part of a series of events organized by the Democratic Party to commemorate its 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated on September 9, 2026.
He explained that the event was deliberately organized with direct community participation so that Democratic Party cadres could experience and share in the festive atmosphere of independence alongside the residents.
“The folk competition was held in Sukarame Subdistrict. This is one of the Democratic Party’s marathon series of activities to commemorate the party’s 25th anniversary,” said Ferry.
Ferry emphasized that the event did not end with the excitement of the competition. The presence of party members among the community also served as an effort to build closeness through simple activities that could be enjoyed together.
“As cadres, we joined together with the community in Sukarame to celebrate. Moreover, this activity became an occasion for mutual sharing,” he said.
He hopes that activities directly impacting the community will continue to be carried out. In this way, the Democratic Party’s presence will be seen not only in political activities but also through social initiatives that provide both benefits and entertainment for the residents.
“In essence, we will continue to strive to bring joy to the community through various activities, especially folk competitions like this,” he said.

Meanwhile, a resident of Sukarame named Tohar expressed appreciation for the event. He said that the folk competition served both as entertainment and as a way to encourage residents to gather and enjoy the atmosphere of independence together.
