Fool Night anime, a collaboration between SHAFT and SUNRISE, unveiled a fresh trailer, introduced more voice actors, and set its debut for November 26. This marks the studios’ first joint effort, with a 2026 Netflix exclusive release already confirmed. Adam McArthur and Olivia Liang have been cast for the English version.
Atsuyuki Yukawa takes the director’s chair, marking his directorial debut for the series. Character designs are created by Robert Sato, while Jin Tanaka handles the overall series composition.

Fool Night is a Japanese seinen manga created by Kasumi Yasuda. It debuted in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior in November 2020, has compiled into 13 volumes to date, and is published in English by VIZ Media (North America) and Shogakukan Asia (Southeast Asia).
In a bleak future without sunlight and dwindling oxygen, Fool Night depicts humanity’s reliance on “transfloration,” a method that converts people into plants. Toshiro Kamiya, a young man living in poverty, struggles to earn enough for taxes, daily needs, and his mother’s medication; she suffers from mental illness. The harsh world around him steadily erodes his optimism.
There’s nothing enjoyable about living in this condition.
Amidst this bleak, hopeless world, he embraces the “Spiriflor” path—the existence of humans turned into plants.
Will he stay human and endure suffering, or discard his pain for a new life as a plant?
