TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Musim kemarau masih belum berakhir.

Dried grass and shrubs during the dry season are a key factor that causes fire to appear and spread quickly.

“Sampai kemarin kami telah menangani 44 kebakaran lahan. Kejadiannya terus terjadi setiap hari,” kata Budi kepada Radar, Rabu (19/8/2026).

Budi said the risk of fires remains high as long as the dry season has not ended.

Therefore, the public is urged not to underestimate activities involving fire.

One issue BPBD is concerned about is the public’s habit of burning trash.

Fire that is believed to be extinguished may not actually be completely dead,” he said.

Embers left behind in piles of dry material can reignite when blown by the wind.

Even small embers can cause a large fire that spreads to surrounding land.

“Hopefully this can be stopped through public discipline, especially during trash burning. Make sure there are no embers left so that fire does not occur,” he explained.

Besides trash burning, BPBD also warns residents not to discard cigarette butts carelessly, especially in areas filled with dry grass and shrubs.

Budi emphasized that vigilance is crucial because the current land condition is like fuel waiting for a spark. Even the smallest source of fire could trigger a blaze.

“We urge the public to be more careful when burning trash or discarding cigarette butts. Ensure everything is completely extinguished. If burning trash, check again whether there are still any embers inside,” he said.

BPBD hopes that the public will increasingly understand the still-dry weather conditions and help reduce the number of land fires in Kota Tasikmalaya.

“Hopefully it will decrease in the future. Especially as dry weather continues. May the public increasingly understand such weather conditions and be more careful,” Budi hoped.
