The creator of Detective Conan, Gosho Aoyama, has verified that he has already sketched a storyboard outline for the manga’s concluding chapter.
During a segment on the pre-broadcast show 24-Hour Television Latest Information SP, Aoyama talked about the finale. The interview took place at his workplace and was conducted by musician Chanmina and SixTONES member Taiga Kyomoto, both longtime fans of the series.
When Chanmina asked if he pondered the conclusion of both his own career and Detective Conan, Aoyama disclosed that he has already produced a draft for the final chapter. He playfully asked if they’d like to view it, then noted that the ending is “interesting.”
Aoyama gave no specifics about the plot or a timeline for when Detective Conan will end.
In the interview, Aoyama added that he had never anticipated the series’ massive success, thinking it would wrap up quickly at first. He pointed to the debut movie as the moment he truly grasped how popular it had become.
Aoyama also referenced a chat with ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda, noting they spoke about the rare occurrence of seeing their manga turned into a weekly TV anime on a regular schedule.
Detective Conan, also called Case Closed, is a Japanese mystery manga penned and drawn by Gosho Aoyama. It has been running in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday since January 1994, with 108 volumes published as of April 2026. The story first became an anime in January 1996 thanks to Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment, spawning 29 films and many other spin‑offs.
