The Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will resume serialization on August 18 with the September 2026 issue of Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy, ending a hiatus of approximately 10 months.
The manga had been on hiatus since the issue released in November 2025 because of creator AidaIro’s health problems and medical treatment. During the pause, GFantasy reissued previous chapters.
AidaIro announced the comeback on X just before the new issue drops, stating that Hanako-kun will start publishing again and urging fans for ongoing support.
The comic has sold over ten million copies in total. It was adapted into a TV anime, with the first season debuting in 2020 and the second season beginning in 2025. The After-School Hanako-kun spin‑off manga by the same creators launched in 2018 and also got an anime. Both series are released in English by Yen Press.
Crunchyroll streams both Toilet-bound Hanako-kun and the After-School Hanako-kun short anime, summarizing the former as:
Kamome Academy is said to hide many secrets, the most bizarre being the mischievous ghost Hanako. When a mystic‑loving teen, Nene Yashiro, unintentionally links with him, she discovers a realm of otherworldly beings. The pair now work to keep the balance between the living students and the supernatural—provided they can avoid getting into trouble themselves.
