Genshin Impact version 7.0 will launch on August 12, featuring the Snezhnaya region, new characters Odette and Alyosha, and a third-person shooter gameplay mode.
HoYoverse has officially declared that Genshin Impact version 7.0, titled “Everwinter Without Mercy”, will debut on August 12, 2026.
This massive update is one of the most anticipated because, for the first time, players will be able to explore Snezhnaya, the seventh nation in Teyvat that has only been mentioned in the main storyline so far.
Genshin Impact 7.0 Update Overview
In Genshin Impact version 7.0, players will trek through a frozen region plagued by severe blizzards. Snezhnaya boasts a rail network linking towns and settlements, such as Snezhnograd, the governmental hub and headquarters of the Fatui organization.
Beyond the modern city, players can roam icy wilderness, remote villages, and lands inhabited by ancient creatures while unraveling the mystery behind the energy crisis afflicting the realm.
The update also continues the latest Archon Quest, exploring the factional conflicts in Snezhnaya. Players who complete the quest series will receive rewards of up to 560 Primogems.
Varied New Features in the 7.0 Update
HoYoverse also introduces the Snezhnaya Adventure Journal, which helps players track exploration progress and claim various available rewards.
In addition to the new area, Genshin Impact version 7.0 adds two playable characters, Odette and Alyosha. Both will join the roster of playable characters and are expected to play crucial roles in Snezhnaya’s storyline.
The update also introduces a new device called the Eye of Graeae. It serves multiple purposes, such as shielding characters from extreme cold, summoning rail cars, and generating Prime Ice Constructs to solve puzzles and interact with other players.
Most notably, Genshin Impact version 7.0 adds a third-person shooter (TPS) mode as a new gameplay mechanic. This mode lets players wield three types of firearms, complete with various attachments that can be discovered while exploring Snezhnaya.
The addition introduces new combat variety, demanding different strategies compared to the existing system, making the 7.0 update one of the most significant in Genshin Impact’s history.
