The Yuzusoft‑developed visual novel (eroge) series, Senren * Banka, will be adapted into an anime. The anime adaptation was announced ten years after the visual novel’s release in Japan in 2016.

The announcement came on the final day of Yuzusoft SONGFEST 2026 at Tachikawa, Tokyo, and shortly thereafter the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the eroge developer Yuzusoft posted a promotional video.

The staff members are as follows:

VOCAL CAST:
- Yoshino Tomotake as Sora Haruka (Eri Sendai)
- Mako Hitachi as Yuka Kotorii (Natsumi Takamori)
- Murasame as Mikan Satou (Nozomi Yamamoto)
- Lena Liechtenauer as Sawa Sawasawa (Atsumi Tanezaki)
The opening theme of the series will be performed by KOTOKO.
Intriguingly, the copyright credit lists “wwwave” (ウェイブ). Wwwave is noted for producing anime geared toward R‑18 content and does not present them as full‑fledged 24‑minute episodes as is typical. In July of this year, the series *Ushiro no Shoumen Kamui-san* became an anime with a runtime of roughly 12 minutes per episode and aired on Tokyo MX. In October 2026, another anime slated for such treatment is *Kanojo no Tomodachi*.
Released to mark Yuzusoft’s 10th anniversary, Senren*Banka is a Japanese‑style visual novel that has garnered significant acclaim since its debut. Set in the isolated and traditional village of Hoori, the narrative blends romance with supernatural folklore.
Among the many characters, Murasame, the spirit embodied by the legendary katana Murasamemaru, became one of the fans’ favorite characters thanks to her moe gap. Despite initially displaying childish and ghost‑like behavior, the character’s storyline delivers the most satisfying conclusion among all her routes. Murasame enjoys popularity not only in Japan but also in China.
The international release of this title in English and Mandarin was published in 2020 by HIKARI FIELD and NekoNyan and is available for purchase on the Steam platform. It turned out that Senren Banka was extremely popular in the Chinese market. On Steam, Senren Banka amassed 30,000 “Very Positive” reviews written in Simplified Mandarin. This remarkable success was largely due to the meticulously crafted game aesthetics and the accessible narrative, which perfectly matched Chinese players seeking a premium visual novel.
Senren Banka became a cash cow for Yuzusoft, whose earlier visual novels were well‑liked but did not stand out much. In Japan, the game reinforced their reputation for producing high‑quality moege—romantic comedies—earning the number one spot at the 2016 Getchu Bishoujo Game Awards. Internationally, its commercial success on Steam also helped drive the studio’s expansion. Senren Banka transformed Yuzusoft from a local visual‑novel brand into an internationally recognized name.
Will the anime adaptation be grand and spectacular like other releases from major studios? Don’t count on it.
