Box office tickets for Avengers: Doomsday have finally gone on sale, and along with the release of the first trailer, Marvel also launched their first Avengers Doomsday poster. Typically, Marvel movie posters feature the faces of heroes and villains packed together. But for this film, Marvel chose a different and bold approach. Through its latest poster, they give Doctor Doom the main stage entirely, as if the Russo brothers wanted to show that Doom will be a central threat as epic as Thanos in Infinity War.
What made the Avengers Doomsday poster go viral wasn’t just Doom’s intimidating pose, but the background mural behind him. The mural was designed to resemble classic paintings in medieval churches, where Heaven is usually depicted at the top and Hell or symbols of conflict at the bottom. It turns out this beautiful mural contains many crazy easter eggs about the villain’s motives and grand plans in the MCU.
Avengers Doomsday Poster that Holds Many Meanings

The Mother’s Riddle and Personal Motive
Take a look at the top of the mural on the Avengers Doomsday poster. There is a picture of a mother and her son surrounded by angels. In the comics, Doom is a rare character who masters both high-level science and magic (mystical science), and he studied magic after his mother was dragged to Hell.
The angel details in this poster seem to strongly suggest that Doom may be haunted by his mother’s death, and his main goal in conquering the world is to change that destiny.
The Cracked Earth and the Birth of Battleworld
Moving to the middle, we can see an image of a single Earth with a large crack spanning its surface. We all know that Doomsday is a bridge to the film Avengers: Secret Wars. In the 2015 Secret Wars comic event, the multiverse was shattered, and Doctor Doom took action to unite the remaining fragments of the world into a single place called Battleworld.
Through this Avengers Doomsday poster, it seems the MCU confirms that Doom not only wants to create Battleworld, but also wants to shape the new reality as he wishes, ensuring the remaining world runs according to his desires and that his mother can live again.
Conflict Against the Ancient Gods
Finally, at the very bottom of the mural, there is an illustration of war and conflict depicting a figure very similar to an Asgardian god. This makes a lot of sense given that the first trailer highlighted Thor, and Doom seems strong enough to resist a Stormbreaker attack.
In addition, Doctor Doom’s throne, which was displayed at the Shanghai Expo, is also filled with mysterious rune symbols that resemble Asgardian writing. If Doom positions himself as a ‘God’ who creates a new reality and world, certainly the old gods and goddesses of the Asgardian order will be the first to oppose him.
From just one Avengers Doomsday poster, Marvel managed to summarize Doctor Doom’s personal motives, his plan to create Battleworld, and the epic opponent he will face. The film is scheduled to be released on December 18th, and with all these crazy clues, the hype to see the legendary villain’s actions is clearly unstoppable!
