The United States Embassy in Jakarta, together with the Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI), the Odong Prestasi Indonesia Foundation, and Akademi Garudaku, held the final stage of the American Spaces Indonesia Esports Development (ASIED) at @america, Jakarta. This program uses esports as a means to develop digital talent and strengthen relations between the people of the United States and Indonesia.

ASIED is a development program that runs for over seven months across seven cities: Padang, Pontianak, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang, Makassar, and Ambon. Through the American Corner network, the program reached more than 1,750 participants and involved over 50 esports communities throughout Indonesia.

In addition to competitions, participants also received training in various areas of the esports industry, ranging from tournament organization, broadcasting, league operations, graphic design, content creation, to shoutcasting. They then took part in community activations, regional qualifiers, and advanced to the national final round.

The Acting Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Abraham Lee, stated that esports has evolved into an effective medium for connecting young people from different countries through a shared interest in gaming. According to him, ASIED demonstrates how esports can create opportunities for skill development while strengthening relations between the United States and Indonesia.

The final round featured matches of EA SPORTS FC 26 and EA SPORTS FC Mobile, a Shoutcaster Hunt competition judged by professional casters Aqwam and Sanskuyy, an exhibition match with content creators, and a community tournament that overall attracted more than 300 participants and visitors. The event also included a discussion session titled “More than a Game” with the Ministry of Creative Economy, exploring the role of esports as a driver of Indonesia’s creative economy.

The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, hopes that collaboration with the United States can be further strengthened through the presence of American Corner in various Creative Hubs across Indonesia. According to him, the partnership has the potential to expand creative space activation and bring more American creative industry players to share experiences in Indonesia.

The implementation of ASIED coincided with the 250th anniversary of United States Independence and the United States’ role as host of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Through this program, American Spaces and its partners aim to establish a sustainable esports talent development pathway and strengthen Indonesia’s gaming ecosystem for future generations.
