AHAVERSE unveiled its latest animated production, titled Scissor Seven: The Movie, which unfolds within the setting of its well‑known franchise Scissor Seven. The studio revealed the project during a New World Premiere held at BilibiliWorld 2026, as part of a series of franchise‑related announcements.
The production is scheduled for a worldwide launch in 2028. AHAVERSE states that the narrative is located in the enigmatic martial‑arts realm of Xuanwu, where Seven becomes embroiled in a clash of opposing forces that challenges both their abilities and their view of life’s purpose amid a society fueled by authority, aspiration, and prestige.
Sinopsis resmi
A brand‑new animated film bringing the next chapter of Scissor Seven to the cinema is now in the works. Playing in the arcane martial‑arts kingdom Xuanwu, the movie thrusts Seven into a struggle with contending powers that will both gauge their prowess and compel them to ponder the true value of life in a realm dominated by dominance, yearning, and renown.
This reveal aligns with AHAVERSE’s plan to expand Scissor Seven beyond its core plot, turning it into a broader ecosystem that includes narrative, characters, formats, and immersive experiences. Alongside the movie, the studio also disclosed a spin‑off animated series titled HEIBAI set 25 years earlier, an official mobile action‑adventure title, a fresh publishing imprint called AHABOOKS, a manhua spin‑off named Cheap‑Life Hua, and a yearly live‑music gathering known as Chicken Island Party.
Our announcement isn’t simply a list of independent ventures. It demonstrates how a narrative can blossom into a full‑fledged universe, enriched by fresh characters, daring quests, and inventive creative talent. We aim to provide worldwide viewers with additional realms to explore, while opening doors for creators to influence upcoming storylines.
Since its debut in 2018, Scissor Seven has risen to become one of China’s most celebrated animated franchises on the global stage. It was the inaugural Chinese production to launch as a Netflix Original, reaching viewers in more than 190 territories, attracting over 40 million fans internationally, and surpassing 30 billion viewings across multiple platforms. Beyond the series itself, the brand now spans comics, games, music, merchandise, and live events.
Mengapa Xuanwu, mengapa sekarang
We sat down with the AHAVERSE team shortly before the reveal to discuss the upcoming film and its motivations. When they were asked why Xuanwu was chosen as the backdrop for Seven’s next adventure, the team responded:
Xuanwu has always been one of the most captivating elements within the Scissor Seven universe. In contrast to Chicken Island’s cozy, comedic, and familial vibe that fans cherish, the arcane martial‑arts realm of Xuanwu gives us a canvas to depict a grander setting defined by age‑old customs, political battles, and deep historical roots.
Despite its expanded scope, the heart of the tale stays constant. Seven’s bonds, wit, and human traits keep the narrative grounded, regardless of how enormous the challenges become.
Why opt for a theatrical release instead of another TV season? AHAVERSE gave this insight:
A cinematic release lets us craft a narrative with a distinct pacing, breadth, and visual ambition that isn’t typical for a series format.
Viewers can look forward to grander battle scenes, deeper world‑building, and a more thorough examination of the realm and its rival forces, all while retaining the series’ characteristic wit and heartfelt moments. Instead of redefining Seven’s character, the movie inserts them into scenarios that test them in fresh and unexpected manners.
The studio also reflected on the target audience: does the film cater to devoted fans or serve as an entry point for those new to the series?
Absolutely both. From the beginning we aimed to create a self‑contained movie that newcomers can enjoy without needing prior knowledge of the animated series, while also delivering fresh layers for existing fans.
Veterans, meanwhile, will discover many rewarding details. By returning Seven to Xuanwu, the martial‑arts homeland of the character, we get a chance to dive deeper into its traditions, past, and the forces that influence the larger universe.
