Chainsmoker Cat Unveils Official Trailer

The Chainsmoker Cat anime unveiled its primary trailer on Sunday, accompanied by the opening and closing soundtracks. AniStudio Bibury, responsible for the animation, plans to launch the series on July 2. Yuko Natsuyoshi will perform the opening track, while Necry Talkie handles the closing melody.

The voice actors include: Yani portrayed by Yuko Natsuyoshi, Yaku Neko by Misato Matsuoka, Hame Neko by Yurie Funato, Kansai Neko by Ayaka Shimizu, Al Neko by Shiori Izawa, Tatsuro Ochinpo by Riko Akechi, and Landlord by Tetsu Inada.

Takuya Kimura leads the anime direction, Takashi Aoshima manages the script, Riki Matsuura designs characters, and Keiichi Suzuki composes the music.

The manga by NyanNyanFactory debuted in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine in February 2023. Seven Seas will release it in English, characterizing it as: A comedic tale where a catgirl’s smoking habit complicates her life. Welcome to Yani’s apartment—smell be damned. Yani, a catgirl addicted to cigarettes, struggles to quit due to overwhelming cravings. Facing rent arrears and unemployment, her friends and sister offer support. However, her unconventional methods, like using urine to extinguish fires, might test their patience. Will she overcome her habits, or remain trapped in this lifestyle?

This adaptation blends humor with relatable struggles, offering a fresh take on personal challenges through an eccentric character. The blend of comedy and social commentary could resonate with audiences seeking unconventional storytelling.
