Amazon MGM Studios launches The Beekeeper 2 starring Jason Statham’s comeback and names Timo Tjhajanto as director.
Jason Statham reprises his role as ex‑government hitman Adam Clay in The Beekeeper 2. The latest action film from Amazon MGM Studios ups the stakes with a more formidable threat, a sinister secret organisation and lethal weaponry to fuel the ex‑agent’s relentless revenge.
The script for The Beekeeper 2 is penned by Kurt Wimmer and Zak Penn, based on a story and characters created by Wimmer.
Jason Statham, Chris Long and Wimmer serve as producers, while David Ayer co‑executes as executive producer alongside Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, Alexandra Loewy and Rachael Cole.
Official teaser for The Beekeeper 2
Amazon MGM Studios dropped the teaser trailer for The Beekeeper 2 on Thursday. The brief clip shows Adam Clay confronting the Beekeepers, a covert human intelligence network plotting to seize control of the United States government.
The group shows no hesitation in killing anyone who stands in its way. This forces Clay back into a perilous mission to halt a threat that could destabilise the U.S. government.
In the The Beekeeper 2 teaser, Jeremy Irons’ character Wallace Westwyld urges Clay to stop the organisation. He even equips Clay with a 1969 Dodge Super Bee classic, fitted with a machine gun, to battle the Beekeepers.
Beyond his combat skills and firearms, Clay is also seen wielding a flamethrower against foes. The scene hints that this sequel will deliver the brutal action that made the first film popular.
While the first film centred on Clay’s revenge against those who wronged him, The Beekeeper 2 escalates the conflict by introducing a clandestine group seeking power in the United States.
Timo Tjahjanto Mengambil Alih Sutradara The Beekeeper 2
Amazon MGM Studios has hired Timo Tjahjanto to direct The Beekeeper 2. The Indonesian filmmaker is known for intense action movies such as The Night Comes for Us.
Meanwhile, the original The Beekeeper, released in 2024, was directed by David Ayer. The film grossed over $160 million worldwide, cementing it as one of Jason Statham’s highest‑grossing action titles.
For the sequel, several original cast members are confirmed to return, among them Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver‑Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave.
They will be joined by new faces such as Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland, enlarging the film’s ensemble cast.
Amazon MGM Studios has slated The Beekeeper 2 for theatrical release on 15 January 2027.
With Jason Statham back as Adam Clay and Timo Tjahjanto at the helm, the film promises even more intense action than its predecessor.
It will be interesting to see how Clay confronts the Beekeepers and thwarts their plot to seize control of the U.S. government.
