One Piece is a popular manga and anime known for its adventurous storyline, intense battles, and the great secrets hidden behind its world. This work by Eiichiro Oda has presented various puzzles that make fans constantly come up with theories to find the answers. Here are the unsolved mysteries of One Piece.
Even though the story has entered the Final Saga, there are still a number of important questions that have not received a complete explanation. Some of these mysteries are even directly related to world history, the powers of the main characters, and the ultimate goal of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey.
Unsolved Mysteries of One Piece
1. What Exactly Is Luffy’s Dream?
Luffy is known to aspire to become a Pirate King. However, that title is not the only goal he wishes to achieve. He also has another dream that he has shared with some of his closest friends.
Unfortunately, Eiichiro Oda has not yet clearly revealed what the dream entails to the readers. The varied reactions of Luffy’s friends when hearing about it only make this mystery more intriguing.
Many fans suspect that Luffy’s dream is related to freedom and his desire to create something extraordinary. However, until there is an official explanation, the real answer remains a mystery.
2. The Secret of the Giant Straw Hat in Mary Geoise
One of the most mysterious scenes in the story of One Piece is the existence of a very large straw hat stored in a cold room in Mary Geoise.
The object draws attention because it is located in a place related to the power of the World Government. Its appearance also raises suspicions about a connection between the straw hat, Joy Boy, and past history.
The straw hat worn by Luffy himself holds great significance in his life’s journey. Therefore, the similarity between the two objects makes fans wonder if there is a special connection between them.
Until now, the function of the giant hat and the reason for its existence have not been fully explained.
3. The Identity of the Mysterious Man with Burn Scars
In the competition to find the treasure of One Piece, the existence of a man known to have burn scars has become one of the important puzzles.
This figure is linked to the last Road Poneglyph, a historic stone needed to determine the location of Laugh Tale. The information he possesses could influence the competition among pirates who want to reach the island.
The problem is, his identity and background are still a matter of speculation. Various theories have emerged about who he is and how he obtained that crucial information.
If his secret is revealed, this figure could play a major role in the journey towards the end of Luffy’s adventure.
4. Blackbeard’s Unique Physique
Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard, is one of the characters who holds many secrets. The most attention-grabbing thing is his ability to possess two Devil Fruit powers.
In the world of One Piece, consuming more than one Devil Fruit is usually considered dangerous for the user. However, Blackbeard managed to master the powers of Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mi.
This oddity gave rise to many speculations about his physical condition. Some fans believe that Blackbeard’s body structure is different from that of ordinary humans, while other theories link his abilities to his identity and origins.
Although some clues have been provided, the exact reason why Blackbeard can use two Devil Fruit powers remains one of the great secrets of this series.
5. The Meaning of the Initial D in Certain Characters’ Names
The letter D that appears in the names of characters such as Monkey D. Luffy, Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Garp, and Trafalgar D. Water Law is not just a regular name addition.
Since the beginning of the story, people with that initial have often been associated with major events and changes in the world’s order. Even so, their existence seems to be related to a history that the World Government tries to conceal.
However, the true meaning of the initial D has not been fully revealed. Does the letter indicate a certain lineage, a historical inheritance, or a will passed down from generation to generation?
The answer to this question is likely to help explain the relationship between the owners of the initial D and the main conflicts in the story of One Piece.
6. The Truth Behind the Void Century
The Void Century, or Abad Kekosongan, is a period of history lasting one hundred years that is not openly recorded in the history of the One Piece world. The period took place around 800 to 900 years before the present story time.
The World Government prohibited research into that era. The Ohara tragedy became one example of how the authorities acted harshly against people who tried to uncover lost history.
The existence of Poneglyphs became an important clue to understanding those events. The ancient stones store information that cannot be erased so easily, including clues about history and ancient weapons.
Many fans suspect that the revelation of the Void Century will explain the origins of the World Government, the conflict with Joy Boy, and the reasons behind the various secrets that have been concealed so far.
7. What Is Joy Boy’s Relationship with the World’s Past?
Joy Boy is a figure from the past who played an important role in the history of One Piece. His name appears in various clues related to Poneglyph, the Kingdom of Ryugu, and the Void Century.
Joy Boy’s existence also became increasingly important after the story introduced a connection between himself, the power of Nika, and major events that shaped the world today.
However, there are still many things that are not yet known about his identity, the goals he fought for, and the reason he left a message for future generations.
The mystery of Joy Boy also raises questions about the relationship between the past and Luffy’s journey. Is Luffy continuing the same will, or will he bring about a change never seen before?
The answer to this question could be one of the most important parts as the story of One Piece comes to an end.
