Six Ninja whose corpses became Pain's vessels

One of Nagato’s most terrifying abilities is the Six Paths of Pain, a technique that allows him to control six ninja corpses using the power of the Rinnegan. These six bodies were then used as Pain’s avatars, each with distinct abilities. Here are the ninja whose bodies became Pain’s vessels.

Pain is the name Nagato gave to the six ninja corpses he controlled with the Rinnegan. Each of these bodies possesses unique abilities and can fight as a unified force under Nagato’s command.

Ninja whose corpses became Pain’s bodies

1. Yahiko – Main Body of Pain

Yahiko was one of the most important people in Nagato’s life. He was Nagato’s and Konan’s childhood friend.

The three of them studied under Jiraiya while living in Amegakure. After growing up, Yahiko, together with Nagato and Konan, founded Akatsuki with the aim of achieving peace.

However, tragedy struck when Yahiko was killed in a conflict involving Hanzo. His death became one of the biggest turning points in Nagato’s life.

After Yahiko’s death, Nagato used his corpse as the Deva Path, a Pain body capable of controlling gravity. This body is often regarded as Pain’s primary face.

Abilities such as Shinra Tensei and Chibaku Tensei make the Deva Path one of the most dangerous Pain bodies.

2. Ningendō – Soul‑Reading Body

The second body used by Nagato was a ninja later known as Ningendō, or the Human Path. This body’s primary ability relates to a person’s soul and mind. The Human Path can read a target’s thoughts and obtain information directly.

Under certain conditions, this ability can also be used to extract a person’s soul from their body. Therefore, the Human Path becomes one of the most dangerous Six Paths of Pain members when facing an opponent who needs information.

The true identity of the ninja who became the Human Path body is not revealed much in the story. He is primarily known by the role and abilities Nagato gave him after taking control of his corpse.

3. Jigokudō – Body Controlling the King of Hell

Jigokudō, also called the Naraka Path, possesses abilities that are very different from the other Pain bodies.

This body can summon a figure known as the King of Hell. The creature has an important function within the Six Paths of Pain system, especially for interrogating victims and repairing damaged Pain bodies.

The Naraka Path’s abilities make it an important part of Nagato’s strategy.

During Pain’s assault on Konoha, the presence of this body was also one of the reasons why several Pain bodies could be reused after sustaining damage.

4. Chikushōdō – Controller of Various Creatures

Chikushōdō, also known as the Animal Path, is a Pain body with the ability to summon various animals for battle.

The summoned animals are not ordinary creatures. They possess combat abilities that make it difficult for opponents to face Pain’s attacks.

The Animal Path also offers a significant advantage in battle because Nagato can use various creatures as tools to attack, distract, or surround opponents.

Interestingly, the story features more than one individual who served as the Animal Path. The body used during the attack on Konoha was a different figure from the first Animal Path body that was shown.

5. Shuradō – Body Wielding Deadly Weapons

Unlike the other Pain bodies, Shuradō, also called the Asura Path, has a very unique form and abilities.

This body can release various weapons from its parts. It can use armaments such as missiles, additional mechanisms, and extremely powerful physical abilities.

The Asura Path gives the Six Paths of Pain a very diverse combat capability. While other bodies focus on specific techniques, Shuradō functions as a combat unit with highly aggressive weaponry.

Its presence shows that Pain’s power does not rely solely on ninjutsu, but also on physical abilities and weaponry.

6. Gakidō – Chakra‑Absorbing Body

The final body is Gakidō, also known as the Preta Path. Its primary ability is to absorb chakra, making many ninjutsu‑based attacks less effective when directed at it.

Gakidō can absorb chakra from an opponent’s techniques and even make direct contact to drain chakra from a person’s body.

This ability makes the Preta Path a troublesome opponent for ninjas who rely heavily on ninjutsu. In a battle against Pain, facing this body requires a different strategy because ordinary chakra attacks can be ineffective.
