PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com–Farmers in Pangandaran Regency are compelled to delay the planting season for a longer period. The reason is that rain still hasn’t arrived to activate irrigation sources.
A farmer from Parigi, Pangandaran Regency, named Sadili, said that normally at the beginning of October farmers start planting.
“The situation is uncertain now; in fact, there has been no rain until the end of September,” he told Radar Minggu (27/9/2026).
The appointment of the supervisory board at RSUD dr Soekardjo Tasikmalaya remains controversial, with critics saying it disregards regulations and is heavy with alumni interests. Alumni from SMAN 1 Cikatomas Tasikmalaya gathered, entrusting Ajang Ramdani to lead IKA SMANCIKA.
According to him, even if it rained at the start of October, he wouldn’t immediately plant rice. “Yes, even if it rains, but the water flow is insufficient, it can’t be plowed right away (dibajak),” he said.
He said that most rice fields in Parigi currently rely on rain‑fed systems. “Even with irrigation, a prolonged dry season like this would be difficult. This year’s planting season definitely won’t be synchronized,” he said.
Another farmer, Sukardi, expressed concern about the unusually long dry season. “I hear it’s going to be longer, even next year, so how will we be able to produce rice?” he explained.
At present, rice reserves in the leuit have also become increasingly scarce. In fact, most of it has already been sold. “Now we must consume it, fearing the dry season may still be long,” he said. (Deni Nurdiansah)
