TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Cator Slow Band, which carries Tasikmalaya’s name onto the national stage, is set to compete in the TNI Commander’s Cup Band Festival at Carrefour MT Haryono, South Jakarta, from 25 to 27 September 2026.
The ensemble, made up of junior and senior high school students from Tasikmalaya, stands as the sole representative of the city and East Priangan. They will face off against 19 other bands hailing from various parts of Indonesia.
Before heading to Jakarta, the members of Cator Slow Band met with Tasikmalaya’s Deputy Mayor, Raden Diky Candra Negara, in his office on Friday (25/9/2026). The encounter served as an opportunity to request support and prayers for a top performance.

Diky Candra voiced his backing for the students. He believes that artistic pursuits such as band festivals can offer a positive outlet for youths to showcase talent and develop character. “The enthusiasm to carry Tasikmalaya’s name to the national level is strong. Winning or losing is normal in competition. The key is to enjoy it and simply give your best,” he remarked.
He expressed hope that performing at the national level would provide the students with a platform to boost their self‑confidence and abilities.
Meanwhile, Cator Slow Band’s manager, Muhamad Ganjar, thanked the Deputy Mayor of Tasikmalaya for his support. The encouragement was seen as an extra motivational boost for the members heading into the national event.
“We will depart for Jakarta at 14.00 WIB. We have to perform on stage the following day. Cator Slow Band is scheduled third, and we hope to deliver our best show,” he said.
Ganjar clarified that during the festival, Cator Slow Band will play a compulsory song composed by the TNI Commander as well as one original track. The preliminary round is slated for 26 September, with the final set for 27 September.
The competition features several categories: students, general, and street performers. According to Ganjar, Cator Slow Band’s rehearsal period was brief, with members training for only four days at Studio Yadi due to prior scheduling conflicts.
