TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Currently, there is no public battery charging facility, so electric rickshaw drivers can only rely on electricity at home, meaning they must return home when the battery is depleted or weak.
When the electric rickshaw assistance was distributed, it was mentioned that a battery charging station or facility would be prepared; however, up to now, public charging facilities for electric rickshaws in Tasikmalaya City have not been available.
The Head of the Transportation Section at the Tasikmalaya City Department of Transportation, Ajat Sudrajat, said that Tasikmalaya City received assistance in the form of 220 units of electric rickshaws. Nevertheless, until now there has been no electric battery charging terminal or station that can be used publicly by electric rickshaw drivers.

“Untuk saat ini belum tersedia terminal atau stasiun umum pengisian baterai listrik,” ujar Ajat.
According to him, based on the information received, electric rickshaw battery charging can still be done at each driver’s home for the time being. Ajat admitted that his party has not yet received further information about plans to build a special electric rickshaw battery charging facility.
“Kalau saat ini belum dapat informasi. Kemungkinan ke depan, apabila kendaraan listrik sudah banyak beroperasi di Kota Tasikmalaya, akan dibangun stasiun pengisian listrik baterai, termasuk untuk becak listrik,” katanya.
Thus, the need for charging facilities will become one of the issues to address as the number of electric vehicles operating in Tasikmalaya grows.
One electric rickshaw driver, Mujidin (52), said he still does not know of any specific location that provides public charging facilities for electric rickshaws.
“Belum tahu ada lokasi pengecasan untuk umum. Selama ini ngecas di rumah saja,” ujar Mujidin.
According to Mujidin, charging an electric rickshaw battery takes about three hours, forcing drivers to schedule their operational time, especially when the battery runs out while they are outside.
“Sekitar tiga jam,” katanya.
In Tasikmalaya, October is expected to remain dry. Encouraging adaptive education, BNI and Unpad strengthen collaboration.
