The imminent The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan anime has unveiled its first character illustration featuring Loki Leevahl, accompanied by the news that Yui Ogura will provide the voice for him. Izushiro’s fantasy light‑novel series disclosed its anime adaptation earlier this year, slated for release in 2027.
The series will be directed by Yusuke Suzuki, acclaimed for his contributions to the Duel Masters franchise and This Monster Wants to Eat Me. Its script is penned by Juichiro Ichikawa (known for Jobraver and Himitsu no AiPri), and character designs will be created by Yuki Kitajima. Sound direction is overseen by Takatoshi Hamano, and animation production is handled by HOTLINE. Yuto Uemura leads the cast as Alus Reigin, the world’s most powerful magic user.
Alus, the fabled spellcaster who ranks above over 100,000 other magical practitioners, is the focal point. After a prolonged period of combat, he yearns for tranquility, so he hides his true self and registers at a magical academy. There, he divides his time between instructing aspiring magicians and battling monsters that threaten the realm.

Under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko imprint, The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan has expanded to 20 volumes. The manga adaptation illustrated by Karu Yoneshiro, bearing the subtitle The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan: The Alternative, has concluded after 10 installments.
A new prequel manga, The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan Zero: The Secret Record of the Beginning, will explore Alus’s adventures prior to his enrollment at the Second Magic Academy, further extending the franchise. Serialization on Comic Fire is set to commence this winter.
J‑Novel Club offers the English version of the novel, with the following synopsis:
In a realm overrun by Fiends, Alus Reigin, the prodigious Magicmaster who has bested more enemies and reclaimed more lands than any living soul, asks to leave military service at sixteen. However, fate’s intricate weave, tied to his status as the nation’s premier Magicmaster among over 100,000 practitioners, compels him to enroll in a clandestine magical academy. There, he must conceal his true identity, mentor a duo of gifted Magicmaster apprentices, and continue battling Fiends in secret. The legendary saga of Alus Reigin is about to unfold!
