Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4 has once again thrilled fans with the arrival of a fresh transformation for Ichigo Kurosaki. After a long‑wait for the full‑power revival of the protagonist, the anime finally unveils Blood Chains Ichigo, a new form that never appeared in the manga but is still considered canonical by Tite Kubo. Below are the key facts about Blood Chains Ichigo’s bankai in Bleach TYBW Part 4.
This transformation quickly sparked intense discussion among Bleach fans, as it features a design reminiscent of Vasto Lorde while showcasing an unprecedented level of Ichigo’s power.
Key Facts About Blood Chains Ichigo: Ichigo’s Most Powerful Bankai
1. What Is Blood Chains Ichigo?
Blood Chains Ichigo represents Ichigo’s most recent evolutionary form, appearing when he activates his Bankai while his fully‑merged Hollow power is engaged. This form awakens the dormant Hollow blood within him, resulting in a massive boost to his Reiatsu, physical strength, and battle‑reaction speed.
Many fans regard it as one of Ichigo’s finest transformations since the Vasto Lorde and True Bankai eras.
2. Marked by the Red Crescent Moon
One of the reasons Blood Chains Ichigo’s debut felt so epic was its visual spectacle. When the transformation occurred, the sky darkened and a red crescent moon appeared, nearly eclipsing the heavens.
Yhwach was taken aback because his domain had never had a moon. After the eclipse fully covered it, Ichigo emerged from the darkness with an intimidating aura. This scene stands out as one of the most cinematic moments in Bleach TYBW Part 4.
3. Resembles Vasto Lorde, Yet Stronger
On closer inspection, Blood Chains Ichigo’s design shares many similarities with the Vasto Lorde form he displayed during the fight against Ulquiorra. Ichigo now sports large horns on his head, Hollow patterns across his body, and Reiatsu chains wrapping his arms, legs, and neck.
This combination makes his appearance look far more ferocious than any previous transformation. For many longtime Bleach fans, the return of Vasto Lorde elements provides a deeply satisfying nostalgic jolt.
4. Extremely Overpowered New Abilities
Blood Chains Ichigo is more than just a visual change; this form grants Ichigo a variety of new abilities that make him far more dangerous.
1. Controlling the Reiatsu Chains
The crimson chains wrapping Ichigo’s body are not mere decoration. He can freely manipulate them to block attacks, ensnare opponents, and create openings for counter‑strikes. In his battle against Yhwach, the chains even managed to intercept a barrage of energy strikes.
2. Creating Clones
The most shocking ability of Blood Chains Ichigo is his power to generate numerous clones. With extraordinary speed and abundant Reiatsu, Ichigo can conjure physical phantoms that strike simultaneously. This technique leaves Yhwach struggling to distinguish the real Ichigo from the decoys.
3. Giant Getsuga Tensho
Ichigo’s iconic attack also sees a dramatic enhancement. The Getsuga Tensho unleashed in Blood Chains mode produces a gigantic black crescent‑shaped blast. The force of this strike is powerful enough to damage Yhwach’s body, though the Quincy King endures it thanks to his extraordinary resilience.
5. Still Unable to Defeat Yhwach
Although Blood Chains Ichigo appears incredibly powerful, it still falls short against Bleach’s ultimate foe. In the intense clash, Ichigo continues to struggle against Yhwach’s The Almighty ability.
Even with assistance from Rukia and Orihime, he remains unable to topple the Quincy King. This underscores just how formidable Yhwach’s power is at the climax of the Thousand‑Year Blood War.
6. Why Is Blood Chains Ichigo So Popular Among Fans?
There are several reasons why this transformation instantly became a fan favorite:
- Merging Hollow elements, Bankai, and Ichigo’s innate power.
- Featuring a design reminiscent of Vasto Lorde.
- Including new abilities never seen in the manga.
- Showcasing one of the most spectacular battles in TYBW Part 4.
- Delivering the long‑awaited revival moment for Bleach fans.
