Classic JRPG fans have finally received the long-awaited news. Suikoden II is officially being adapted into an anime under the project name Suikoden The Anime. After previously being announced for a 2026 release, the Suikoden anime is now scheduled to air in October 2026.
For fans of the Konami game, this adaptation is definitely a special moment. In fact, Suikoden II is known as one of the JRPGs with a very strong story of politics, warfare, friendship, and betrayal.
Interestingly, the anime does not rely solely on the game’s popularity. Several iconic characters such as Riliu, Jowy, Nanami, Viktor, Flik, and Luca Blight will also appear with a new cast of voice actors.
Suikoden Anime to Begin Broadcast in October 2026
1. Suikoden The Anime scheduled for October 2026
The most important news for fans is the broadcast schedule. Suikoden: The Anime is scheduled to start airing in October 2026 in Japan. This confirmation was announced through the anime’s official website in March 2026.
Previously, the project was only said to be coming in 2026. Now, fans have a clearer timeline to look forward to the adaptation of Suikoden II this year.
The anime is produced by KONAMI animation with YUZO as chief director. Michihiro Tsuchiya handles the series composition, while the game character designs are based on the work of Fumi Ishikawa from Konami Digital Entertainment.
With the rather lengthy and complex storyline of Suikoden II, it will be interesting to see how far the anime will adapt the characters’ journeys.
2. The story focuses on Riliu and Jowy
Suikoden: The Anime introduces the story of two friends, Riliu and Jowy, who are members of the Highland Kingdom’s youth brigade.
At first, they only hoped for peace so they could return to normal lives. However, that hope changed when they were drawn into a vortex of conflict and fate.
Their journey then connects them to two great powers known as the True Runes. Riliu and Jowy must face a situation that gradually separates their paths.
The story takes place in the conflict-ridden region of Dunan, caught between the Highland Kingdom and surrounding powers. Friendship, warfare, power, and moral choices are central to the narrative.
For those who have played Suikoden II, the premise will be very familiar. Meanwhile, for new viewers, this story could be an engaging gateway to the world of Suikoden.
3. Iconic characters also appear
One of the biggest attractions of this adaptation is the appearance of many popular characters from Suikoden II.
The announced voice actors include Toshiki Kumagai as Riliu, Shinba Tsuchiya as Jowy, Ayumi Hinohara as Nanami, Katsuyuki Konishi as Viktor, and Yuichi Nakamura as Flik.
Other important characters also have voice actors, including Luca Blight voiced by Taku Yashiro and Jillia Blight played by Chika Anzai. In addition, there is Ayumu Murase as Luc, Takeo Otsuka as Shu, Yoshino Aoyama as Apple, and Masato Niwa as Mukumuku.
The presence of these characters is one of the reasons why this adaptation is so eagerly awaited by long-time fans.
4. Where can you watch Suikoden The Anime?
The next equally important question is where to watch Suikoden: The Anime.
At present, the Japanese broadcast schedule has been confirmed, but official information about global streaming platforms is still pending. Therefore, Indonesian fans should not immediately assume that the anime will definitely be available on certain platforms.
Crunchyroll has been actively reporting on Suikoden: The Anime, but the official announcement regarding global streaming availability is still awaiting information from the relevant parties. This means that for Indonesian viewers, official platform information should be monitored closer to the premiere in October 2026.
Avoid watching from illegal sites just to be the first viewers. Besides the uncertain quality of the images and subtitles, supporting official platforms is also one way to respect the work and the anime industry.
