BANJAR, Thecuy.com – It is suspected that five residents were beaten by a group of people in Jalan Raya Pataruman, Banjar City, early Friday (17/7/2026). The incident is believed to have started with a fight between two patrons at a karaoke hall in Pataruman Village, Pataruman District.
A witness identified as Munir reported the case to the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of Banjar Police. According to him, one of the victims was his younger brother, who was still being treated at a hospital until noon Friday.
“My sibling also fell victim to a case of mistaken identity assault by a person from across (Batak), which prompted him to file a police report,” he said Friday midday (17/7/2026), after filing a report at the Banjar Police SPKT.

Munir said that before the incident he was at the front of the karaoke venue. At that moment, a quarrel was heard coming from one of the rooms between a patron and a person from across. The disturbance then escalated until a suspected beating of one of the patrons took place.
Seeing what was happening, Munir claimed he tried to intervene and escort the victim out of the room. However, when they reached the road’s edge, the disturbance erupted again. When he and a few others attempted to intervene again, his younger brother became the target of the beating.
“The people from across were more numerous, around five people were beaten. Two of them were still in hospital care, while three were already allowed to go home,” he said.
As a result of the incident, a female victim suffered a cut on the left temple after being hit by a thrown block that was apparently aimed at the glass. Another victim sustained injuries to the back from a blow with a block and is still undergoing medical treatment.
Munir suspected that the disturbance was triggered by the consumption of alcoholic beverages by the group from across.
“Initially there was no problem, perhaps due to heavy alcohol influence which caused a fight that ended in a beating,” he said.
Meanwhile, Banjar Police Criminal Investigation Chief, Iptu Pramono Adi, confirmed the report. He said that a report alleging a beating has been received and the case is currently under investigation. (Anto Sugiarto)
