Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You – Creditless Opening & Ending Videos Released

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You revealed creditless versions of its opening and ending themes shortly after the July 9, 2026 premiere. ABEMA streamed a special early‑release version, splitting the first six TV episodes into twelve mini‑episodes of roughly ten minutes each for a preview. Crunchyroll also made these mini‑episodes available worldwide.

The preview mini‑episodes feature “Kuzuri Nen” by Zutomayo as the opening theme and “NIGHT DANCER” by imase as the ending theme. The main opening song is “Ichijiku Kemuri” performed by ZUTOMAYO, while the main ending track is “Fiction” by imase.

Studio Asahi Production oversees the animation, with Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori directing, Mio Inoue handling series composition, Yasuka Otaki designing characters, and Shin Kono together with Sayaka Aoki composing the music. The voice cast includes Takuya Sato as Sasaki, Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tamaya, Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki, Toa Yukinari as Goto, Megumi Toyoguchi as Ono, Rikuya Yasuda as Obata, and Yoko Hikasa as Maezawa.

The manga by Jinushi began as a webcomic on Twitter in March 2022 and started serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan in August 2022. The story follows 45‑year‑old salaryman Sasaki, who is fed up with corporate life and finds solace in smoking and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. After a grueling day, when he cannot find Yamada, a striking woman invites him to smoke; Sasaki assumes she is the teasing Tamaya, only to realize she is Yamada in disguise.

Even the hardest days can lead to unexpected friendships. In ‘Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You,’ a weary salaryman discovers that sharing a smoke can reveal hidden connections and new beginnings. Let this story remind you that every night holds a chance to rewrite your story, one fleeting moment at a time.
