The Quintessential Quintuplets anime project has been confirmed, revealing two new ventures: an anime version of the sequel novel The Quintessential Quintuplets: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and a fresh OVA episode. The news was shared on May 2, 2026, at the “The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in Toyota Arena Tokyo,” where the main cast, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Kana Hanazawa, and others, made appearances.

The sequel novel, authored by Hajime Asano under the full guidance of original creator Negi Haruba, serves as a canonical continuation of the original story. It is also set to receive a manga adaptation. The OVA will include chapters from the original manga that were not animated in earlier versions. A trailer for the new anime is available for viewing.

Negi Haruba created and illustrated the The Quintessential Quintuplets manga series, which ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2020, totaling 122 chapters across 14 volumes. The first anime season, produced by Tezuka Productions, aired from 2019, while the second season, handled by Bibury Animation Studios, premiered in 2021. SHAFT animated both specials, with the first released in 2023 and the second in 2024, covering post-wedding events and Futaro’s honeymoon.

This expansion reflects the series’ lasting popularity, offering fans more content to explore. The blend of anime, manga, and special features highlights the creative potential of the franchise. For viewers, it’s an opportunity to dive deeper into the story’s world and characters.

The project underscores the growing demand for anime adaptations of beloved narratives, proving that well-crafted stories can continue to engage audiences across generations.
