The Z-Clean initiative, spearheaded by Jabar Bergerak Zillenial (JBZ) in Tasikmalaya, officially kicked off at Notif Coffee on Jalan Noenoeng Tisnasaputra.
The event wasn’t a formal ceremony but rather a subtle push for youth engagement. Facing a daily waste crisis of around 300 tons, the program aimed to shift mindsets rather than just host a gathering. Participants weren’t just there to chat—they were there to take action.
The morning began with interactive sessions on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), group discussions, and hands-on activities. While the setting was relaxed, the content was intense, challenging attendees to rethink daily habits. Muhammad Abil Marahim Syabani, head of Z-Clean, emphasized that without awareness, actions risk becoming superficial. He stressed that waste management is a collective responsibility, urging young people to consider the long-term impact of their choices.
With 30 selected participants aged 17–24, the program prioritized engagement over passivity. Selection involved administrative checks and interviews, ensuring commitment. The focus on this age group reflects their potential to drive change, though their energy sometimes needs direction.
Collaborations with local entities like Dinas Lingkungan Hidup, Perhutani, and eco-compost groups highlight the initiative’s grassroots approach. Future plans include workshops on eco-enzymes, compost management, and tree planting to turn discussions into tangible actions.
The urgency stems from data that often goes unnoticed in social media feeds. Numbers like 300 tons per day are frequently overlooked, yet they signal a pressing environmental challenge. Z-Clean seeks to bridge this gap by making waste issues tangible and relevant to young audiences.
