Traffic Conditions on Salawu Route During Mudik Season
The flow of vehicles through the alternative Mudik and return route between Tasikmalaya and Garut via Salawu remains smooth on Tuesday, 24 March 2025. Despite an increase in vehicle numbers, road conditions are well-managed without significant disruptions.
Field observations indicate that traffic moving along this route continues to operate at normal speeds. Notably, the volume of vehicles has risen, particularly from Tasikmalaya heading to Garut, where returning pilgrims are densely concentrated.
The Head of the Traffic Control Unit (Kasat Lantas) in Tasikmalaya, AKP Didit Permadi, confirmed that the return traffic on Salawu remains safe and efficient as of now.

“Given the prolonged holiday period, congestion is likely to peak on that date,” he added.
During the Mudik and return period, police reported three traffic accident incidents in Tasikmalaya’s jurisdiction. However, none involved pilgrims, and these were old cases submitted for insurance claims.
“From 13 to 24 March, three accident reports were logged. These are outdated claims handled by Jasa Raharja,” clarified Didit.
No natural disasters disrupted the route during this period, ensuring continuous safety.
Officials urged travelers to exercise caution, especially on Salawu’s busy segments. Drivers were advised to avoid fatigue and utilize designated rest areas.
