BANJAR, Thecuy.com โ€“ Kota Banjar just recently secured the recognition of โ€œMenuju Kota Bersih Tingkat Nasional Tahun 2025โ€ from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. This achievement is a source of pride for the local government.

Despite this accomplishment, waste management in Banjar City still requires urgent and consistent efforts. The public perception of cleanliness might not align with the actual conditions on the ground.

The situation is evident in Banjar Waterpark (BWP). This area is filled with scattered trash, which contradicts the cityโ€™s claim of being clean.

A local resident exercising in the morning reported finding plastic waste, empty beverage bottles, and used condoms scattered along the BWP entrance ramp.

โ€œI was shocked to see used alcohol bottles and condom remnants littered on the landing area of BWP,โ€ the individual stated on Friday (27/02/2026).

As a Banjar resident, the person expressed disappointment with BWPโ€™s current state, which is supposed to be a pleasant spot for relaxation. Previously, the area was known for its cleanliness and comfort, making it ideal for leisure activities.

Now, according to them, the conditions have drastically changed. It seems no efforts have been made to maintain its previous standards. โ€œI can no longer relax carelessly in a place that used to be enjoyable for a quick break after daily activities,โ€ they added.

Social activist Irwan Herwanto criticized the award as merely symbolic. โ€œThe recognition given to Banjar City is just a certificate and a placard. However, the real issues like foul odors and damaged waste containers are tangible problems,โ€ he emphasized.

Based on data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Banjar Cityโ€™s recycling rate has reached 45.96 percent.

The path to a genuinely clean city demands persistent action and community participation.
