Hundreds of residents from Pasirbatang Village, Manonjaya District, Tasikmalaya Regency, staged a blockade at the village office on Friday (15/8/2025). The action, organized by the United Pasirbatang Community Forum, expressed a vote of no confidence in the village head, Yudi Saparila. The field coordinator of the action, Dinan, firmly stated that the main demand of the villagers was for the village head to resign. If this demand was not met, the residents threatened to escalate their protest to the Tasikmalaya Regency Inspectorate’s office. “We will proceed to the Inspectorate because the institution seems to be ‘turning a blind eye.’ We are prepared to stage a prolonged protest until the village head steps down,” he declared.

Dinan accused Yudi of various misdeeds, including misappropriating around Rp466 million from the village-owned enterprise (Bumdes), seizing residents’ farming land in Sampalan, and repurposing the Panerban tourism destination—which had absorbed a budget of approximately Rp499 million—into a sheep farm. He also criticized the village head for lacking transparency in managing village finances, as all budgets and development projects were reportedly handled privately. According to Dinan, these actions harmed public interests, benefited the village head personally, abused authority, and displayed discriminatory behavior.

The villagers urged law enforcement to thoroughly and fairly investigate the alleged violations. They also requested that the Inspectorate promptly release the results of the village governance audit publicly and that the Tasikmalaya Regency government suspend the disbursement of the 2025 Village Funds and Provincial Assistance until the issue was resolved. “I also urge the Tasikmalaya Regency Government to withhold the release of the 2025 Village Funds and Provincial Assistance until this matter is fully addressed,” Dinan insisted.

During the protest, the Chief of Tasikmalaya City Police, AKBP Faruk Rozi, was present at the scene, attempting to calm the situation alongside several local figures.
